Joseph Havrilla

Associate Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Joseph Havrilla serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, with overall responsibility for OIEP. His primary focus is to enhance industry and economic collaborations and partnerships that enable translation of the University’s innovations and discoveries into real world impact and benefit. Joe has 37 years of experience in the healthcare industry. As Sr. Vice President and Global Head of Business Development and Licensing for Bayer Pharmaceuticals (retired Nov 2019), his team was responsible for research collaborations, joint development and co-commercialization agreements, out-licensing and commercial partnership management. Prior to his role at Bayer Joe was CTO of a medical device company where he managed product development, intellectual property execution and strategy, business development and licensing, and partnership development. He received an MBA from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and was a member of Point Park University’s Board of Trustees for 10 years. Joe holds over 30 U.S. and foreign patents in the medical device sector.
