University of Pittsburgh Announces 8 Patents Issued to Pitt Innovators in May 2023

Posted on June 6, 2023 by Mike Yeomans

Pitt innovators were issued eight patents in May 2023.

Featured Patent: 11,654,080: “Automatic Chest Compression Systems That Incorporate Biological Feedback”

Current CPR techniques don’t take into account the individual psychology of the patient, such as chest size, blood perfusion signals and cardiac arrest cause. Pitt innovators have developed an automated mechanical chest compression device for CPR that adjusts thrust depth and rate to the current needs of the patient. A working prototype has been created.

For more information on this technology, including licensing, contact Janice Panza at jpanza@innovation.pitt.edu.
