Featured Patent: 11,517,629 “Methods of Treating Cells Containing Fusion Genes by Genomic Targeting”
Gene fusions are recognized as a key factor in the development of many types of human cancer, including liver, breast, colon, non-small cell lung, esophageal and others. Pitt innovators led by Jianhua Luo, professor of pathology, have identified the chromosomal breakpoints of several fusion genes, which provide unique opportunities to treat the cancers via genome editing and genome targeting technologies.
